What Is a Condensate Tank?

A condensate tank is where condensate formed after steam is used in a facility is collected and returned to the boiler room for reuse. The tank is maintained at a set level, and any water shortage is made up with mains water. It is used to pump the water either to the deaerator, if one is available, or directly to the steam boiler. The returning condensate is injected into the tank through a specially designed condensate distribution system, allowing it to enter evenly and in a finely dispersed form. This minimizes flash steam.
