During the operation of the steam boiler, water is heated and evaporated to obtain steam. Dissolved solids remain in the water phase and their concentration increases. At the same time, the fact that water requires more energy for evaporation also increases energy consumption. In order to prevent scaling and keep energy consumption under control, the water in the boiler is removed and replaced with feed water. This process is called blowdown. The blowdown process is decided depending on the dissolved solids ratio, operating conditions and boiler design.
